TORONTO — The King Street Food Company has opened its highly anticipated second location of Bar Buca at 101 Eglinton Ave. E. in Toronto.

Beginning today, award-winning chef Rob Gentile brings a carefully curated, Italian-inspired seasonal menu to the corner of Yonge and Eglinton that features both established favourites and new items using fresh ingredients and classic cooking techniques. From coffee to cocktails, the new installation of Bar Buca offers grab-and-go selections, a new and expanded early-evening aperitivo program and all-day dining.

“We are so excited to bring a Bar Buca location to Yonge and Eglinton,” says Rob Gentile, chef director, The King Street Food Company. “This energetic neighbourhood is so lively, making it the perfect place to create an exciting culinary gathering spot for guests working and living in the community.”

Guests can kickstart their mornings at 7 a.m. on weekdays and at 8 a.m. on weekends with their choice of classic Italian espresso, house specialty coffees and fresh pastries to go. A full seated breakfast menu is offered weekdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. with classic Bar Buca menu items such as strapazzate al aceto and a latte di buffalo made with fresh buffalo’s milk.

The restaurant will also offer all-day options, known as the menu del giorno, featuring an assortment of small dishes meant for sharing and is served daily from 11 a.m. until closing. The menu features Bar Buca favourites such as costolette (short ribs, tallegio cream, cipollini), burrata al tartufo and nodini, as well as new dishes like carciofi alla giudea fritti (globe artichokes served with a sprinkling of gremolata) and sardine in saor spiedini (venetian sardines served on a skewer with sea buckthorn berry dressing).

Exclusive to the new location is a dedicated pizza Pugliese category on the menu del giorno, featuring Gentile’s take on the traditional pizza Pugliese — a thick, airy pan-style pizza topped with seasonal and Italian ingredients.

Busy customers will also be able to take advantage of a well-designed grab-and-go lunch service from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The takeaway menu features an assortment of pastries, pizza al taglio (ordered by the slice, half and whole), pizza Bianca (stuffed pizza sandwiches) and fresh salads prepared daily and ready for quick pick-up in the front café area of the restaurant.

Guests can experience one of Italy’s most treasured pre-dinner rituals with Bar Buca’s hugely popular aperitivo program offered Monday to Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“Our signature Italian-inspired dishes, along with the restaurant’s grab-and-go service and extended hours, make this location accessible to all,” says Gus Giazitzidis, managing director and partner, The King Street Food Company. “We want to be a fundamental part of the Yonge and Eglinton community, a place where guests can enjoy our fare at any time of day — whether to energize their morning, grab a small bite in the afternoon or relax with a cocktail after work.”

The restaurant features Italian-inspired design, classic mid-century decor and modern finishes, with a 16-foot bar at the front for the grab-and-go service, expansive 20-foot ceilings and an indoor seating capacity of 54, with standing room for 84. Designed by Guido Constantino Projects, Bar Buca is set to open a patio in Spring 2019 with a seating capacity of 60.
